This is apprentice Jason Kropp and whilst Jason doesn't have a ride in the Tattersall's Mile he is riding at the meeting and has only had a handful of Saturday city rides so we wish him well. In this photo Dan Costello took of him after a win at Caloundra a couple of weeks ago, Jason was so excited to get his photo taken, he didn't look where he was going and crashed into the Glasshouse Mountains, which you can see just in front of him. He was only winded in the incident.
Eagle Farm tomorrow hosts an eight race card with the first race set to jump at 12.20pm and the last schedules for 4.30pm.
The program features one black type race – and that is Race 7, the Tattersall’s Mile, which is a Listed event.
Run over 1600 metres, the Tattersall’s Mile is run naturally enough on a day that the Tattersall’s Race Club is in action.
The Tattersall’s Mile is worth $75,000 in prizemoney of which the winner gets $48,000.
A field of only nine has accepted for the race which is disappointing, but coming after the Brisbane Winter Carnival is over is probably not good timing, as most of the Carnival contenders have gone to the paddock to push out some zeds.
My thoughts on the race, with a comment on every runner are:

ROCKDALE
Went like a mule last week and he needs to strike a rain affected track to let down properly – and he’s unlikely to get that here.
BOLD GLANCE
Won well last week but jumps from 1200m to 1600m here and he’s never won past 1400, so not for me and he’s favourite. How do you think bookies all own 10 houses? It’s from laying things like this that win last week at double figures, then get rolled at 2/1 when the world are all on them. Earth to punters.

GO CART

One of my favourites – not. Surely he couldn’t win.
FIFTEEN CARAT
Got home narrowly at Caloundra on Cup day in the Sunshine Coast Guineas and now I read where he’s headed to the Epsom. Good grief, now that is the power of positive thinking in my humble opinion. He’s a chance here only because of the lack of opposition.

HOW MUCH MY LOVE
Doesn’t have the best feet in the industry and he had a big gap between his second last run (1/5/10) and his last run (3/7/10). Has a good win strike rate (6 from 14, or 42.9%) so he’s not the worst in this line up. Concussion plates go on here, but they don’t stop horses winning - as they didn’t stop Takeover Target.

DEACON
Won at Caloundra last start but he hasn’t won in the city since the Rome Olympics.

INTERTHEBLACK
Got home well to win last week and drops 4.5 kgs, but jumps dramatically in class. Prefer to watch at the track he’s never won a race at in six starts.
FOXHAM
Reared as the gates opened when on debut in Queensland for his new stable and lost considerable ground after he blew in the market. We might get a better idea how he’s going tomorrow, but prefer to watch.

SILVER SPUR
Ran sixth in the Sunshine Coast Guineas that Fifteen Carat won - after he raced keenly the trip. Only has to settle in the run here to be the horse to beat. If he can beat Epsom hope Fifteen Carat – well maybe Silver Spur can be in the Cox Plate later this year.
CONCLUSION: Back Silver Spur each way, as he’s the best horse in the race if the penny ever drops.
