Two of the rising juveniles in the boutique collection of racing prospects to be offered on behalf of the American headed international operation BC3 at a sale to be conducted by Inglis at the Oaklands sales centre in Victoria on Sunday August 22 are by Choisir, the 2003 world class sprinter whose Australian bred son Starspangledbanner has stormed England in 2010, winning two Group 1s, namely the Ascot Golden Jubilee and Newmarket July Cup.
In a consignment of 35 lots, all of whom will be 2-year-olds on August 1, the Choisirs are powerfully related youngsters whose strong black type pedigrees and inbreeding to one of Australia’s most brilliant influences, Biscay, suggest they have very good early potential.
They are a colt from Simply Royal, a winning half-sister by the Biscay grandson Kingdom Bay to QTC Metropolitan Handicap winner and VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes third Nassa Rocket, and a filly from Liberated, a Military Plume Adelaide winning half-sister to Quick Star, winner of the AJC Champagne Stakes and runner up in the AJC Sires’ Produce.
The catalogue, one now available and which, besides pedigree details, includes photos of each lot, includes a number of other offspring of sires running hot, including More Than Ready, Encosta de Lago, Lonhro, Fastnet Rock, Pins, Starcraft, Stratum, Dehere and Tale of the Cat.
One of the three available by More Than Ready is a filly from I’m A Devil Too, a Sequalo winning half-sister to leading to noted sprinter and good sire Falvelon. It is breeding that could provide More Than Ready with another Golden Slipper winner.
Prospective owners and trainers will be able to put galloping action to their knowledge of the BC3 sale horses by visiting their preparation base at the BC3 Future Stars Preview Day to be held at Sutton Grange on Sunday next July 18 commencing a11am. Broken in and pretrained, each horse will gallop on the track and there will be an opportunity to inspect afterwards. A barbecue and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Gallop and parade footage is to be available on line on
www.bc3.com and
www.inglis.tv from July 23 and DVDs will be available on request.
Also, the horses will be stabled at the Inglis sale centre from August 18 and available for inspection over the next four days. The sale is to commence at 1 pm on the Sunday.
The BC3 operation only has a short history in Australia, but their horses have included Deer Valley (by Lonhro; four wins, AJC Silver Slipper Stakes, beating Melito), Dark Valley (Johannesburg; at only outing beat subsequent Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily in winning the MRC Debutant Stakes) and American Crew (Stratum, Sydney 2yo winner, third in Brisbane in the Group1 T.J.Smith).
The BC3 sale is to be preceded on the Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, by the Inglis Melbourne August mixed sale.
