Townsville panel beater Les Leszczewicz could be belting dents with more oomph this week following the dashing double in the space of seven days of a 4-year-old gelding by Show a Heart which he bred and races out of the Bryan Guy Gold Coast stables. He is Jazz Heart and he followed up an awesome seven lengths win over 1600m at the Sunshine Coast on February 14 with a strong finishing success in a Class 6 Plate at Doomben on Saturday.
Now winner of five races, four of them in Brisbane, second in the Listed QTC Meynink Stakes at two and a close third in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Trophy, Jazz Heart could be a worthy contender for the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke in the winter if aimed that way.
He has very strong pedigree being by the Glenlogan Park based Show a Heart, a sire who was confirmed again at the weekend as one of Australia’s best, and from Bluedanu, a Danzero mare bred by Ross Warnock, Scone and bought by Leszczewicz for $35,000 as a yearling at the Gold Coast.
Bluedanu won four sprints at Cairns after showing up as one of Brisbane’s better juveniles. At that age she won over 1400m at Eagle Farm, finished second on debut on the same track and sixth of 16 in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast.
Besides Jazz Heart’s success, Show a Heart, as he does nearly every week, captured attention to his siring ability on Saturday with a number other of good performers. Two in particular were the Caulfield runners Rightfully Yours, a 5-year-old gelding who won the $125,000 Group 3 Carlyon Cup (1400m), and his year younger brother Heart of Dreams, a half neck second to La Rocket in the $200,000 Group 2 St George Stakes (1800m).
Returning from a let up following a handy eighth in the Group 1 Emirates on November 7, Rightfully Yours was recording his ninth win in 21 outings and pushing his earnings to $450,000. His brother Heart of Dreams, however, has a more illustrious record.
The short priced favourite in the St George, he has run 15 times for five wins and earnings of $1,187,610. His four Group 1 cheques have been wins in the VRC Australian Guineas and MRC Underwood Stakes and seconds in the MRC C.F. Orr Stakes and Caulfield Stakes.
Trained by Mick Price at Caulfield for their Victorian based breeder L. Bartle, the 4x3 Nijinsky inbred Heart of Dreams and Rightfully Yours are from Academy of Dreams, an unraced mare by the world wide successful Royal Academy and from Dream About It, a Godswalk winner and second in two cracks at the Ballarat Cup and successful in half a dozen races in Melbourne.
Bartle keeps Academy of Dreams at Glenlogan Park and has had her mated with Show a Heart in each of the seven seasons, 2004-10. She has three colts, 3yo, 2yo and yearling, yet to be tried.
